I was wondering i anyone could tell me if the 3ds max's ability to mirror half a face over and instance it so that the other half updates when you affect something on the original half? i know maya has mirroring but all that does is duplicate and invert the coordinates but doesn't update the mirrored half. Is this is a setting issue or is it named something else or do need a plugin or mel script... thanks for the help

Go to Edit>>Duplicate and click the option box for duplicate. To mirror something just set a -1 scale for the axis you want to mirror across, then change the Geometry type from Copy to Instance.
