No idea what the hell is going on here. I installed Photoshop 6 on my computer again and the colours seem to get very saturated very fast, both in the palette and when brushing. using any of the paint tools results in a light border around an almost solid colour. Pallette colour is pretty muddy and doesn't gradiate properly, going very quickly into the darker, more saturated colours.

I don't think I've explained myself particularly well here, but perhaps someone might have some idea where I've gone wrong. I've nver had this problem before in years of using photoshop on my PC. I have purchased an LCD monitor since the last time I installed, but it displays everything else fine, so I can't imagine why Photoshop would be any different.

It sounds like a problem with your color managment settings. When you installed the new monitor windows might have setup a color profile for that monitor, which is messing up photoshop.

Right-click your desktop go to Properties>>Settings tab>>Advanced

There should be a Color Managment tab. If there is a color profile there, delete it then try photoshop again.

Could be the Adobe Gamma Loader that runs when booting.

Look in your Start Up folder (if your on a win os)

Hm... Come to think of it, I might have actually deleted that out of the startup when I was clearing out a bunch of spyware. I'll have to look into that when I get home.

Cheers.

Maybe you have wet edges checked in your paintbrush's options.

Heres what my pallette currently looks like. Adobe Gamma loader didn't help at all. Screen is in True Colour.

If anyone knows whats going on, I'd be grateful for a hint.

Another thing you could try is turning off color managment completly.

In photoshop go to Edit>>Color Settings

Then in the drop down for Settings change it to color managment: off

I suspect that'll be the same as deleting the gamma loader, but I'll give it a try.
