Today I started work on another handpainted dagger from a concept by Vavilov Konstantin.
I am currently working on the texturing process! Let me know what ya think!

hehe many people really like that one dagger

I dig it myself nice choice.

as for feedback I think it's still to early

need to see what you do next.

modeling wise I myself would probably be thinking about the bolts if I should put them in the mesh or not, they are quite big, and especially with a non normal mapped model I would be afraid of them looking a bit dull.

I feel like the pommel might be a bit too wide. In the reference it seems to hug the grip a bit more.

Thanks Jonas and Uberren for the feedback. I didn't realize so many people like to do this dagger. lol.

This is an updated version of what i have done so far. i was having a little trouble with the darker metal on the blade, but I'm pretty happy with what I've come up with.

Little high poly don't you think? unless that isn't a low poly model. but assuming its for a game along the lines of wow, they have super low poly stuff

Hello again, here is an update of the work on the knife. i restarted the texturing process to define more of the shape of the blade and to give more differentiation between each section.Thanks seandxyz for the feedback on the poly situation! I have also reworked some of the geo to make it more low poly. I am still in the process of fixing the lighting.

Much better geometry wise, but again there is still room for improvement in geometry, general rule, go through your mesh deleting edge loops, if it makes almost no change to the overall silhouette get rid of it, else look at other options repositioning of edge loops, or re-topologise, for this style I believe most the detail comes from the textures rather than the model anyhow, if your not great at drawing you can always create a high resolution model, and bake an occlusion map form it, works as a great template to work with while hand painting your textures.

This looks much better... Just to push this a bit further maybe consider the colour blends between surfaces... like the reflections from bounce lights should be considered to take the texturing to the next level so the golds should receive a little bit of red/dark silver etc from the parts surrounding it and vice versa on the silvers etc. very nice start though (Y)

Yeah the gradients definitely helped as well as the understanding of the lighting.
