Heyo, I kind of abandoned my last set of assets. They were more for practice anyway. Now that I have commercial versions for all of my software I'm going to have a go at creating assets for the unity store. Much in the same style as what was in my last thread.

Heres the first group of asset Ive done, want to go back later and improve them after Ive warmed up.

Love the look of your wood grain. Maybe a little more range of darks and lights in the wood texture though? It looks very uniform art the moment.

Thanks for the feedback, Ill take that on board when I go back to improve the barrel.
Today though I have been wasting my time trying to get the colours right on the next asset. Not complete yet as Ive redone the texture a few times now.

Unless you plan on making this game super close-up, you might want to increase the contrast and size of the assets (Make them more obvious from a distance). Right now they may turn into a blob if viewed from afar. I really like the textures though!

Good point, I tend to make my textures a little washed out without too much contrast. I tried adjusting that for the other textures.

Heres the doubloons again a little more finished. Not sure what to do for the detail around the edges.

Also heres an updated barrel. Minor differences. Got to get more models textured. Though I should work a bit more on my wood grain first because theres a lot of wood in the coming assets.

Hey man love the idea. I did a rough paint over with my 2 cents. I made some adjustments according to a reference while trying to retain the style you're going for. Basically I just changed the shadows to a rusty green, midtones to a sort of dejon mustard, and pumped the lightness on highlights. I also added a top to bottom gradient on the stacks in order to break up the noise, create depth, and separate the forms. I don't know how your UV's are laid out, but it may required giving the stack edges more space in order to accommodate the gradient.

Wow I like how that turned out. I'll give that a go when I go back to fine tune things. At the moment I feel like Im dewlling on a few assets when Ive got a big group to complete.

Couldn't resist, heres a doubloon update. tested how it would look at an isometric-type game res. Im trying to make these assets useful in a broad range of possible games.

FullSynch I gave the stack gradient a go but It didn't really work with the different sized stacks and I want all coins and coin piles on the same UV so they can be batched in Unity engine. I think it could be better to bake the shadow into the vertex.
