Hello, we are Pedro and Pablo Hurtado. We are twin brothers from Chicago, Illinois. Both of us are aspiring 3d Character artists we graduated from from IADT Chicago in October of 2012. For the past year we have been working as freelance 3D character artists as well as Technical Artists for Dead Panic Studios. In this thread we will be working together and head-to-head on certain projects to try to improve our 3D skills. Any feedback is truly appreciated, we just want to get better.

Hi there, for this project we will team up. We are gonna do a mini-scene with two characters from the show Ben 10 Omniverse. I was always intrigued by the Khyber character so I wanted to make him in 3d, my brother will create his pet alien that can turn into any predator alien, so he chose the Crabdozer form. We definitely want to take these through the entire high to low pipeline. So in this first post we have created the base shapes for these characters.

The rib bone armor for the dude looks a little bit wider/bigger/thicker in the show.
Nice work fellows for a start will be watching carry on.

Looking cool, One suggestion I have though is that you need some harder edges. I'd go in with the h-polish and dam-standard brushes to get those edges. Keep it up.

Here is another update on our Ben 10 Omniverse Fan art collaboratiion project. We have been really busy with our professional work so we worked on it a bit whenever we had any free time. For Khyber my brother made changes to his proportions based on the critiques, especially the leg size. He worked on blocking in the jacket design, fleshed out his forearm and boot armor, knocked out all the bone parts of the character and made some progress on the face. For the Crabdozer I sculpted the details on the crab armor and its skin. Comments and Critiques are welcomed.

Very cool! Love the details on that creature especially. Only crit would be that from the side, the smaller legs have actually too much detail crammed in there. Little too high frequency in that area, but overall I really like it!

Here are the finished sculpts for the Ben 10 Omniverse Fan Art collaboration project. I finished the collar, resculpted the middle leg, and adjusted the size of the head and horn for the Crabdozer. Pablo added all the straps, sculpted the pants, hands, jacket, and belt for Khyber. Comments and Critiques are welcomed.

Here is the retop for the crabdozer, I tried to stay close to the polycount limit of the next gen console games. It current polycount is 21,090 tris. I used topogun and Maya to retopologize it. I will now move on to UV mapping the crabdozer.

After joining Netherealm Studios as a temporary associate artist I decided to start working on smaller projects in my spare time. Here is a sculpt for a Lizard soldier. This is just a Zbrush render, my final presentation will be done in Maya Vray. Please let me know if anything looks off. The concept was done by an artist called M ZM. Couldn't find his real name but that's what he called himself on ArtStation.

Hey pablohurtado. Love the subtle details.E.g. the armor sculpt is not overdetailed, what fits great as contrast to the very detailed character patterns (skin..etc). What i really think you could improve is the chain. I think the chain pieces are very even and cubic. It should look like they are used from the general shape. Thats what pops up the first, for me.

I started working on a bust of the Sasquatch it is based on the Sasquatch done by Marc Silvestri for Marvel comics. Any comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Based on the critiques I got I made changes to the chains. I loosened them and gave them more of worn look. Here are final renders in Vray.

Hmm Sasquatch's right arm seems to be shorter than his left. This also seems to be the case with the reference but is it really supposed to be so? Your models are pretty accurate so maybe you copied it without realizing? Other than that, good job.
May I ask how you model these hair strands? Move tool and dynamesh?

Billakosama thanks for the critique, you are correct the left arm is a little longer than the right, I did it so I could match the reference as much as possible. To model the hair strands I used the Curve Tube brush, and then used the move brush to adjust the shapes.

At first this project started a head sculpt a while ago, but I decided to make it into a bust. I decided to make a cowboy/cyborg from the future. I will take the opportunity to learn the PBR workflow with this character, since it has a good mix of materials. Here is the sculpt so far.

I have never played World of Warcraft but I have always been a fan of their art, and especially their beautiful trailers. I have been working on WOW fan art, here is my base sculpt for Blackhand created in Zbrush . Any comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Here is more progress on my cowboy. I worked on his face, bandana, shirt and hat. Ive pretty much finalized these parts of the sculpt. I finalized the scarring on the right side of the face and added all the pores and wrinkles. For the clothing I just added wear and tear and general bumps so they look more worn and not so smooth. C&C is welcomed.

Here is my latest project, I decided to do a shift in style by doing a cartoony character in Wrecki-it Ralph. This sculpt took a couple of days, first I decided to do some Zbrush BPR renders but I switched to Vray cause they looked better.

Hey there, at first I was gonna do a soldier type of character but I couldn’t find an interesting concept with a front and back view. So I decided to do a cop and ended up picking a concept of Saito from the new game Ghost in the Shell First Assault. Here is the base for my character, I just set up his anatomy so I can start building his outfit. Also, I decided to use the actor Iko Uwais as the face of the character because I think he was really cool in the Raid movies and I thought this would be a good opportunity to sculpt his face. Please let me know if anything looks off.
