Rhino - UDK

Just finished up this Rhino character + enviro piece. A couple days a week over two months. ZBrush, 3dsMax, Photoshop and rendered in UDK.

Crits+Comments welcome.

I'd tone down the wrinkles in the face; they feel much too dark & deep at the moment.

Rhino Space Janitor... I love it!
The only crit I'd make is that the entire scene looks like it has too much noise in the textures.

@DougClayton4231 Yeah, the original concept by fightpunch is awesome. I just needed to tweak it to fit in the enviro.

@TorQue[MoD] Agree, noise was the main issue I had in the whole thing. I was going for a grimy look but It did turn out a bit too strong in the end. Main positive is I now know what not to do next time!

Part of me REALLY wants you to add one of those little tickbirds that always hang out with rhinos.... perhaps an itty-bitty robot?

I also think having the tail poking out of the back would add some personality, but I'm not sure how that would work with the armored suit.

lol can't believe I didn't think of that bird before. Would be a good addition.
Not sure about the tail though, don't think it would fit.

I would try to knock the environment back a little bit so you can separate the character from it. Both the character and the environment are really saturated and vibrant so its hard to see what is going on. I would reduce the noise on the environment textures, desaturate them as well, and create a lighting system to show off the character, not the hallway. The character is cool though dude, I like what you did with the colors, and his facial expression.

Really wish his eyes followed true rhino anatomy. I want them more on the side of the face and not so humanized. Sorry does that make sense? I really like these proportions....granted this style is more cartoony, yet you could make it more realisticly finished.

@BARDLER Yep, I agree with all your comments. I should have also mentioned that this was for a school project and I had to follow some poor design criteria. :shifty:

@pixelpatron I was actually thinking about that when I started, but I just decided to follow the original concept a bit more. Considering the human-ish posture/hands etc..
