Hi there.
I actually begin a new personal project: a Barber Shop
I just finished school last year, worked 6 months in a studio and now I want to do something for myself.

I'd appreciate advices and critics. I always want to improve my skills and I didn't put my hand on Zbrush for a whiiiiile now

Here is some news.

And here some screenshots of the scene. I'm actually trying different lighting (maybe more desaturate, dramatic), . If someone could give me some advices, it could be very nice.

I had to add some details like barber stuff, others in the safe etc.

Quite impressive! Howd you go about adding the pinched leather areas? I assume sculpting but to what extent. I have a tent that has a similar stretched canvas look but I'm not sure what the process is.

Outstanding and very inspiring. The look and feel is superb and now I really want to practice some environments/dioramas

But let me say I'm kind of confused: The top one is a render (like vray) or a real time render? Are you trying to do it as a game art or a High Poly illustration?

Btw, you could use some more barber shop paraphernalia.

I like the overall feel of it. The models looks great. I just have a few gripes about it though. I think that your spec on the chair, floor, and mirrors are too high. If it is supposed to be a dirty seen, I think that the spec would be lower. Also where is the light coming from that is shining on the chair? And the barber signs look kinda weird on the walls. Like the blue, white and red one seems too new. Maybe dirty them up. Also the area behind them isn't deteriorating as well, which makes them look like you just placed them there. Also have you messed with environment color at all?

@Chase: If I understand, for the armrest for exemple, it was just a box. After in Zbrush the piched areas was a mix of Slash3, move, pinch brush if I remember.

@bZero: I started 1 month ago but I didn't have time to work on it every day..

@mariomanzanares: Happy to be an inspiration for you like Scott Homer was for me

Only real time here (UDK). I don't know how to use vray haha. And what you see is low poly (sometimes very low). I like the constraints of real time

And a lot of good ref there, thank you!

@Inkalicious: About the light, I totally agree. But it's a personal choice, I don't want it full realistic and I love contrast. But the leather and barber signs could be less shiny, yes. The light from the ceiling have to be done (like some other stuff). Sure without it, it's a bit strange ^^. Do you think about decals for the wall behind the barber signs?
And what do you mean "messed with environment color at all"? It's weird or you just don't like it?
