I am a first year hertfordshire university student and this is my first time using UDK and my part of my assignment is to enter this competition.
My idea is to create a derelict mansion corridor inspired by the old resident evil games

ok days recap, managed to make some simple concept art of the type of scene i am planning on making in UDK

also started modeling some assets and UVed them

managed to create a full texture set for one of the assets (just a wall), got diffuse, normal and specular maps (keeping up the power of two rule)

after an interesting day creating assets, UVing them all and building all textures (Diffuse, Specular, Bump and Normal) i think tomorrow will consist of building the scene and lighting etc

it might be worth noting that simple pieces of geometry like floor pieces and walls have different textures on each side IE one side will have a clean wallpaper texture and the other side a grimey wallpaper texture
