I feel like the shadows are way too dark, specifically where it's pure black. Maybe brighten those areas up a bit.

Really cool design and nice shaders as well. IMO, your Global illumination needs some tweaking to get a better overall lighting and a bit more brightness.

I love the design, however it looks a bit plain but I don't know why. Maybe just too much light, kinda contradicts what that one guy said, but I feel it's supposed to be dark. Specially with all of those candles and ambient lighting going on. Overall great scene though.

Have you considered placing stained glass in some of the windows? Aside from adding some realistic spots of color and letting you play with some fun projected textures, it would also allow you to tone down the intensity of the sunlight, reducing the contrast between lit and unlit areas.

thanks guys, yeah I'm going to keep messing around with the lighting, and have less contrast going on. Also maybe some more color variance from new window textures. We'll see!

Your scene is nice. I just don't understand the architectural style of your main pilars in the first Screenshot. It looks like Metal Tubes no ?

But srsly, is good, I think the trick with the lighting is to decide whether u'r pushing the moody purple vs yellow or the sunny, holy white. Right now the latter is overwhelming the former, creating an ambiguous atmosphere. I u should focus on that b4 adding more colors variance

@Vincent - I think you are right about the center pillars having parts that look like metal pipes, but I also think they look really cool! I'll experiment though with giving their models a look that fits the architecture more

Most recent image feels like an amazing improvement in lighting. When I first clicked into the thread I was a little overwhelmed by the huge contrast and lots of points of super bright lights everywhere. The toned down version is heaps better, and I really love this atmosphere. I have no idea where the green light is logically coming from but I'm a sucker for colorful stuffs, and don't care.

Mind sharing a bit about your lighting setup? Is the green smatterings near the ceiling point lights? How did you achieve the light rays?

Thanks man! I like colorful stuffs too :P The green smattering are coming from the spot lights located on the ceiling windows on either side. Maybe I should get some more shadows going up there.. :S

The light rays are also made by having the window materials a bit intensively bright, with some bloom going on. Then, when they are glowing slightly, a spot light actor with light shafts turned on is projected through the material. This creates the god ray look you see in the images
