translucent drawing style

its the face im talking about, the rest of the image is unfinished. but to get skin like this it took 2 passes, a first pass to obtain nuetral colours, then a second pass for the saturated colours. This is my VERY OWN PROGRAM AND MY OWN IDEA!!!! Ill be back with another attempt, but this has been the best so far, you may have seen my tanned naked chick before I would have posted there but I lost the thread. This picture is done in a way NOBODY else does it! I only picked like 3 colours to make the whole thing, thats what is so good about the technique, I like to think its "real" for the work that was put into it, I am NOT THE BEST ARTIST! I just like to dabble in art I hope I dont annoy anyone.

Kind of confused about this thread...I don't really know what sort of effect you're going for, but the colour pallettes you're using remind me of fecal matter.

Maybe you could post your program online so we could try it out? Like I said, the artwork is unique, but I just don't get what you're trying to achieve.

skin is fecal, in a way... here try this one. looks alot like watercolour, working with this translucent device, i should make a movie of myself making one, its pretty cool, just 2 layers and they are finished.

Isn't this effectively the same as drawing an entire image using just the dodge and burn tools in Photoshop?

yeh kinda, but im using a special brush that steps translucency in closer increments, gives you colour distortion. dodge and burn would be good practice.

I'm not really seeing the advantage of this program - painting with dodge & burn tools is not a good work flow and most artists agree that they should be used sparingly if at all.

I wasnt sure how I would have been recieved, but I guess its ok, im going to try and sell this program I think, but it wont be to everybodies taste, for sure. Me on the other hand, it saves me, it taught me alot about colours, using them translucently. Note ive only got rgb faders to select the colour, I prefer that to hsl, you get to pick the exact amount of each element you want.

ok guys i had fun, im just gonna let the thread die now... just remember pure translucent is a method and you have to pick less colours using it. so I vote its good.
