Hi, my name is Alexander, im a follower of this forum since long time ago, now i have decided to post my first thread, its about a character that im doing, inspired in cocodrile dundee, all feedback is welcome this is how it look so far, thanks.
i like it man, its quite TF2 ish and i like the overall body shape also the muscle placements look good on the arms, but im not huge on anatomy so i could be wrong.
I'm starting to see this more and more I think, but the one thing that stands out to me (every time I see it) is the lack of any wrist. There's nice shape to the shoulder, upper arm, but once you get below the elbow the forearm is really short and pretty much seamlessly becomes a hand.
I'd recommend scaling down the upper arm (bicep area) a bit to give you more room to define your wrist, without adding too much length to the arm itself. Might be able to accomplish this with something simple, even just adding that bump from the ulna.
Yup, lookng great. As everyone else said, some more love on the arms would be cool, and maybe slightly smaller and skinnier legs (or perhaps just smaller feet/boots, like the guy from the incredibles?)
Hi, thanks for your comments, two listen, you are right im doing fixes with your feedback, and im triying to put more love in arms, thanks drav, could you tellme what do you think about these changes?, thanks to all the people that wrote here
Yeah looks better.
That ulnar prominence is what was missing for sure
Bring out the sillhouette of the pants, the look like tubes atm. Push it as much as possible!
butt, Thanks for your suggestions i will do it, i have a feedback from a friend of mine his name is simon loche http://www.simonloche.com/ is a very good artis an he made some drawings on top the model to correct a bit the shape and proportions, i wil do both things , here is the feedback from him
Maybe something like the armlet he's wearing, would be cool or you could add some damage or rips to the jeans in the knee area, just to create some asymmetry.
I would take another look at the 'machete holster', did you use any reference? The way the holster is attached to the belt seems a bit strange, ofcourse if you have used reference, i've just made a fool of myself :P
After long time im jumping to the next step, im feeling a bit bored so its time to move to retopo and texture.
Finally i did some work in the high, i know that i could make it better but i want to finish this guy.
this looks great, his proportions are excellent. some of the crease work in the boots looks a bit mushy but other than that it looks good. You could also do with posting some larger screen shots, it's hard to see all the detail at that size
I actually find the arm muscles on the previous sculpt more appropriate for this character. The new arm muscles are so defined they suggest pretty incredibly low body fat & liquid content, which contradicts the big, barely defined, belly he's got. I think you should consider using more of a 'boxer' physique than that of a body builder, otherwise he might start looking like the hulk.
Hi! sorry for the delay i have done some advances in this guy, right now is using two 2k textures one for the cloth and one for the body, the polycount is around 16k, i have to clean the ao a bit but is almost ready to put color on it.
@DashXero: Thanks man, i think the best if you get bored with something is to jump to the next step.
@mr_ace:Thanks man, you are right there is not so much detail, but im gonna put here some larger screenshots
@SCB: Thanks, you right but i just want to jump to the next phase to have this guy done as soon as posible cause is taking me an eternity:poly142:, i think i will put much more time in the texturing phase cause this modeling phase bored me.
@Hazardous: Yeah! I discovered the proper way to say crocodrile, but was too late :poly122: in spanish we say cocodrilo is pretty close but its not the same :poly121:, I will try to improve my english with your help guys, thanks for posting here.
Hi guys, after several color tests, i have decided these colors as the definitive ones, maybe im using too much variation,:poly122: what do you think?, thanks.
Feedback always welcomeee!!! :poly121:
I think you've actually got a fairly good amount of variation going on there already. You've only really got two hues and a shade. When creating focused designs, that's a pretty good starting point. Depending on what texturing style you're going for, you might want to subtly work some deep greens and/or blues into your croc leather.
Hi, thanks everybody, after a while im back triying to finish this guy, right now im texturing and working materials,.. Im a bit bored , any crit is welcome
Finally i have decided to finish the character and to move to another project, thanks to all who have reply this thread. I will start a new one soon
As always, any crit is welcome, thanks.
Thanks ysalex im glad you like it, i think i have to improve more stuff, but i leave it for the next one.
Here you have the textures, i think that the result could be much better, cause there is a lot of information painted in the texture and it could be much more dynamic with the shader.
Much better presentation, but the scale of that building seems too large. He's a big guy right? Compare the size of his head with the steps or the door behind him. His head seems tiny! I would enlarge your character.
Hi Fomort, thanks for your reply, i think you are absolutelly right, right now im bored of him, this project took me one year.. i will jump to another thing, anyway your advice is great!.

Hope you find this helpfull.
You spelled crocodile as cocodrile...twice!
Finally i did some work in the high, i know that i could make it better but i want to finish this guy.
Some high screenshots
Thanks.
But I like where this is going, keep it up!
Cool character too man, looking forward to seeing how he ends up

Crits always welcome
The one on the right is one quick overpaint to see how it looks with a bit of color variation.
Any crit?
As always, any crit is welcome, thanks.
Thanks

Anyway, thanks
