Zbrush - Alpha Mask Deforming Mesh?

Hello,

Whenever I use an alpha mask and the drag brush to "stencil" on detail to a sculpt it somehow deforms the mesh, the larger the drag size the larger the deformation.

Also, when I try the same method in projection master, I get a strange result that looks something like inflation and artifacts on the sculpt.

Am I missing something simple here that would avoid these issues, a brush type or setting perhaps?

Regards,

K

    What drag brush is?

I had similar problems with stencil- 'pixelization', even with 2k map.

Projection master is OK in some cases but most of the time I use simple 'dragrect' stroke and alpha or just stencil.

And I always turn on automasking>backface mask.

    Show some screenshots.

OK, I was trying the layer brush with drag rect method and a depth grabbed alpha, pretty standard technique. I have back face masking enabled too.

Here are a couple of screens grabs, the first shows the aforementioned technique and the second is what I am getting from projection master:
