Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me please.

I'm trying to link a dummy to a vert in 3D Max. I would like the dummy to be the child and the vert the parent. So the dummy follows that particular vert.

This is what I'm trying to achieve: I have an airwalker (big inflatable man) model and have a wind spacewarp placed in the centre of the model. The model is using a cloth modifier, to get that bouncy fabric motion.

The trouble I have is when the model moves around (affected by the wind space warp inside), I would like the wind spacewarp to follow a vert so it remains with in the model.

The idea I had was to link a dummy to a vert (if possible) then link the wind space warp to the dummy.

I hope this all makes sense. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Don't know what would be the quickest way for a Vert but you can use an Attachment constraint to link it to a face.

Why do you want to link it to a vert? You can link it to the model just fine and if the model moves the space warp moves with it. No dummy needed(you could link the dummy to the body and the space warp to the dummy, but why?)

Hi SpeCter, I did try linking to the object axis and unfortunately the space wrap didnt not follow. Because I'm using a cloth modifier on the mesh the object's axis remains in the same position as the mesh deforms, I wondered if there was a way for a space warp to follow a vert or a plane.

I think i donīt get what you want to do exactly. I made a little test, i made a plane added a cloth modifier to it and used a Wind as force. then i linked a dummy to the plane and linked the Wind to the plane and it follows without problems :-/

Edit:

Ok now i think i got it, it wonīt move with it during the simulation.

HI, I tried you recommendation e-freak. The dummy was attached to the face and followed the simulation, but when I tried to linked the space warp to the dummy it came up with an error message. Can not link:would create dependency loop. So close :o)
