Full Time/Part Time Jobs - Guidelines

This forum provides a place for paid job postings. This means fully established companies looking to hire staff for a full/part time employment with benefits.

We have a few simple guidelines to follow here to cut down on the clutter and keep this professional.
  1. This is for full/part-time, on-site positions only. Freelance/Contract postings should be made in the Freelance Job Postings forum.
  2. No mods, or any other form of non-paid positions, including "pay when we're done" structure projects. If you can not offer industry standard pay, paid in regular increments, you are not offering a fulltime/parttime job. If your project does not offer immediate pay, it belongs in the Royalties or Unpaid Work forum sections.
  3. Do not spam. Post your ad once. If you're looking for someone, and you have updated the position, then it is OK to update your thread to show that change. Feel free to refresh your thread with changes, but provide something in your post besides "Just a bump" or "Still looking!". Update the first post, and make a new reply to explain what has changed. The point of this rule is to discourage meaningless posts. Otherwise everyone is bumping their thread to get to the top, and each thread gets filled with posts which are an annoyance for everyone.
  4. Do not reply in a thread unless you have a relevant question which informs everyone, i.e. "Do you require a work visa?", "Is there a deadline for your art test?", etc. Don't ask questions which only apply to your situation. Use the Send Message system, or email, to contact someone for work.
  5. Applicants should not post images from their portfolio, info selling themselves, or links to their portfolio in a company's thread. If you want to apply, email or Send Message them directly with a link to your portfolio.
  6. Do not post just to say you have applied, i.e "PM sent!". This is an annoyance for the OP and everyone else.
  7. Do not ask when you'll receive a response, or to state you haven't heard back. Responding to each applicant is a very time-consuming process, most OPs do not have the time for this. If you do not hear back, it is best to assume the OP is not interested in your submission. If the OP is still looking, they will post an update.
  8. This is not a place to critique/comment on other people's work, these sort of responses need to be kept in Showcase & Critique. If you have a comment for someone, feel free to send them a PM.
  9. If you are a new user posting and do not see your thread, feel free to use Send Message to contact one of the moderators who will make sure it gets approved. We have an anti-spam filter in place to catch all the nonsense and viagra ads that somehow always seem to end up here. If you do not see your thread after posting, do not post multiple threads, just contact one of the moderators via Send Message.
  10. If you see someone breaking these guidelines, we encourage you to use the Flag > Report button. This sends a message to the moderators, who will look into the post and decide whether it needs moderation.

If you have any questions about this section feel free to ask in this thread.

Is it OK to put up a jobs that aren't directly related to 3d or photoshop but still in the game industry?
*Such as Senior "Flash Game Programmer" or "Lead Software Engineer/Programmer"

Yes sorry i didn't notice this earlier. Anything game related is fair game, be it testing, art, programming, sound, etc.

I work for a company which isn't a video game company but we make simulations (serious games) and we are looking for a fulltime 3d generalist. The main job function is creating models and animations for use inside of Unity3d or our inhouse simulation software. I'd like to post the job here, would that be ok?

I see companies like yours post here a lot, so I don't see why that would be a problem. The main concern with these boards is making sure the job listings go in the appropriate sub-forum. For example, full time goes here while freelance would go in another section. You mentioned that your company is offering a full time position, so I think you're good.

Is this board also meant for paid internships?

Yes, as long as it is a fully established company looking to hire staff for a full/part time employment with benefits.

I have a suggestion, I think all people posting on this thread should include in the title (or at least first sentence of the post) where the job is actually located. I think location is one of the most important factors to consider and often times its either not mentioned at all or totally buried somewhere in a wall-O text.

I realize that people posting jobs might not read the rules section, but it would be nice to at least let it be known that location is critical factor for people on the job hunt.

Is it actual about part time work now? thank you

This section has included part-time jobs for several years. I can't recall when we made the change, though I believe it was because members requested it.

If we have 4 different available positions should we post them together or in separated posts? Thanks.

Up to you, either way is acceptable.

If you have updates for the same role, you should reply in the same thread rather than making a new thread. But that's about it.

Updated the rules today. We've changed these from Rules into Guidelines. We do not actively patrol the job sections to catch rule breakers.

If you see someone breaking these guidelines, we encourage you to use the Flag > Report button. This sends a message to the moderators, who will look into the post and decide whether it needs moderation.

We hope the community can self-police. This section is here at your request, after all, and exists for your benefit. We hope you will show us your professionalism; if not then we'll have to revise things a bit. But we believe in you!

I have an equity co-founder Art Director position at my game startup in LA, that will turn into a full time paid position once funding is secured. May I post it in the Full time section? I do not require any unpaid work from the candidate, only their commitment to join full time when we are ready to roll.
  • Eric Chadwick
That sounds like delayed compensation to me.
  • Zsuzsifer
I read the guidelines for the Royalties or Post Launch compensation thread, but this would fall under Post Funding. Would it still be better suited there than here?
  • Eric Chadwick
Yes. You cannot pay immediately (well actually, within two weeks of start date like most fulltime employers, but same thing).

So that's considered delayed compensation. The idea behind separating these types of jobs... royalties or delayed compensation involves some risk for the employee of non-payment, if the employer's funding does not actually arrive. If the employer already has funding, then the employee is paid regularly. If not, there's no guarantee of payment.

Hi there, I am still a little confused as to where we post a job. Directly on this forum or do we create a new advertising our jobs?
  • FirstContactEnt
Hello, what is the proper procedure for deleting a post after a job posted on here has been filled?
  • Eric Chadwick
To close a job post, you can simply respond in the thread to let people know the job has been filled. You can also edit the Subject line to include [Closed]. You can email us at helpdesk@polycount.com if you would like the thread deleted.

Any or none of these options. It's your choice how you would like to do it.

    Thanks for posting jobs here!
