Unpaid, with a view to Crowd-Funding and royalty payments on release.

28th October 2008. From the 26th floor of the office, the distant thunder can barely be heard over the rain crashing against the window. Tightening the grip on the bloodied crowbar in your hand, you stare at the city streets below until the light streams become a blur.

Minutes ago, a team of highly trained mercenaries took control of the building; taking co-workers hostage and barricading the exits. A splinter faction of this team are planting explosives on the building's underground structure - with a 1 hour timer. After evading capture, you’ve found yourself trapped in the middle of a far-reaching government conspiracy known only as Grindstone.

Grindstone is a first person stealth-action game, with a semi-linear narrative focussing on player choices in morally divisive situations. Gameplay takes inspiration from early stealth titles such as Thief, emphasising the use of light and shadows, as well as a ‘natural’ AI system which is rewarding to outsmart.

Details

The project began in July 2014 and has been steadily progressing with a small team since. We are working to build a gameplay prototype for February 2015 featuring at least 2 environment styles, with crowdfunding for the full singleplayer campaign to start in March 2015.

Basic movement and inventory systems are working, with work on the AI and gameplay to begin shortly. We are now looking for more artists to join the project.
