My new course about hard surface modeling

I´m building a course about hard surface to publish it in Gumroad. The course will be in english language about modeling a full audi wheel (rim, disc, caliper and tyre) in Modo901.

What references are you using for that caliper? Because those looks like a part of those cheap caliper covers, not an actual brake caliper.

Don't know which particular model you are referencing, but usually, they look like this:

Or you can go the Brembo way and choose from the various models available with blueprints too:

Remember that usually the front wheel has 3 pistons, while the rear 2.

I don´t intend to make a replica of the real world model, but have a base to develop a good modeling exercise. I took the caliper model from this picture.

Well, mine was just an observation, it's better to know what you are modeling to understand better its function. There's no need to make both sides, as usually they can't be seen, but since they are mirrored, having both gives to the braking system more depth.

Anyway, that picture's from a cover for your stock calipers (you can spot it because they have those silver hexagonal screw heads, and in general don't look quite refined), if you want to model the real deal, they look like this:

Yes, it is intersecting the rim. That is one fix I cover in the last lesson plus a modeling challenge with the object.

This is the type of videos that you should publish for free or at least people to pay what they want for it because lets be honest.. It's just a wheel and a rim. And a bad tyre for that matter. There are better videos about wheels on YouTube.

Not too sound harsh but the way the tires are modeled look very unnatural, you can tell its a separate object. Since you are charging for this I wanted to chime in, especially about cars. Like sonic said its important to do research on the function for what you are building. Since there is an Audi logo i assume your modeling an audi r8 rime / tire. I'm not sure what ref you are using but the thickness of the tire and tread pattern would never be like that in a high performance car.

Yes, that´s one of things they told in another forums, so I did an extra chapter where I cover those kind of things (that thing actually). Here´s a shot of what the tyre looks after the last chapter named "a fix and a challenge".

Yes, it´s a single mesh. In that chapter I show how to make a seamless pattern out of that geometry, so you can safely bend it 360º and get that task done, more efficiently than the original method.
