Hi!I'm trying to improve my anatomy skills,so I'm opening this thread to track my progress.I will make a quick sketch everyday in 1-2 hours and will post it here.Also,this is not anatomy only,I'll probably post hard surface too.
This is a head made in 1 hour.Comments and critiques are wellcomed.

It's looking pretty good, but way too muscular for a zombie imo?
I'd expect a zombie to look more like this:

The pecs look like they lead directly into the delts, they should look more like this.

Bad News! I thought that was going to be a Dacia Sandero and got really excited! Is that a Dacia Logan?

Anyway, some good stuff. I agree with komaokc that you may want to make the zombie more emaciated depending on how far gone it's supposed to be. Is it a fresh turn? If so, make sure you add in details like where he was bitten and other wounds. If it's much older, I'd definitely add the hanging flesh emaciated look though. The face should be sunken with strands of flesh being pulled across the jaw etc. Whatever you choose, I'd definitely make the muscle forms less defined. I'm assuming this zombie isn't a professional wrestler/bodybuilder/athlete, though I do think a zombified professional wrestler would be a pretty amusing project.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing more progress.

Thank guys for you comments.You are probably right about the musculature,but I kind of like it like this.Also I want to be more scary in the game,and making it too skinny I guess it will lower this effect.Will see how it will came out...

Today I've baked the maps.I like how it came out,anyway I have to fix some things(like AO on armpits).I also have an annoying seam,I've highlighted it in a picture.Any tips on how to get rid of it?

I think the flesh should have more of a rotten color. And for god's sake, render this in marmoset or a game engine! These max screenshots aren't doing it any justice.

Thanks komaokc,I like the rotten flesh idea,I would add that.I haven't rendered in Marmoset because it doeasn't have a specular yet.I was just testing my diffuse.
Anyway,here are some shots from Marmoset.I've tried to add some hair but I don't like the result.Anybody knows a good tutorial about polygonal hair,in special about texturing?

Thank you,I've read all the articles,very usefull stuffs.
I've posted some updates on hair and some wires.Still don't really like it,looks like it doesn't have volume.I've tried a anisotropic shader in Marmoset,but it doesn't change the look too much.Also I have another problem:Marmoset renders some transparency where it shouldn't...

i would take a step back and stop using sculpting programs before you study anatomy, i would look at muscle planes, study bone structure and how it interacts with the underlaying muscles , then maybe start doing simple lvl1 sculpts on zbrush or mudbox with just laying the main masses , i see way too many new artists jumping straight to zbrush before even studying anatomy properly.

Yeah,I know I have this problem,but I have to disagree with you.I think the only way to learn is through practice.So,I can't draw very well,I can't use clay,so the only option remains Zbrush.I totally understand what you mean,and I'm trying to improve myself,but this improvement will take place in Zbrush

And my last model seems pretty good to me,if you saw a flaw in anatomy,please point it.

I think you should spend more time sculpting in zbrush before making game res characters. The most important part of a good character is a good sculpt. The low poly and textures are secondary to that. There isn't necessarily anything "wrong" with your anatomy but it can always be improved.

Try to sculpt a different character every day/several days. Stick to the lowest subd levels for as long as possible before you move on to the details. In fact, I wouldn't even do any details. Just move on to the next character. The only way to really master anything is by doing it a lot of times.
And look at a lot of reference of musculature/anatomy.
