Contract 3D Character Artist Opportunity @ Kabam - San Francisco

We are looking for a contract 3D Character Artist. We need someone who has strong modeling and texturing skills using Maya and/or 3DS Max.

Team:
You will work with the character art team in an open table seating environment that encourages daily updates, teamwork, and data driven decision making. This working structure fosters an environment where team members get to know each other very well because the success of the entire project relies on a group effort.

Day to day:

Model and texture low-poly items – especially fun, stylized characters and props - for use in real-time games, including modeling, texturing, and when appropriate, rigging and weighting.
Craft beautiful hand-painted textures for the items mentioned above.
Deliver high quality work on-time and within budget.
Work within constraints set by the technology (polycount limitations, texture sizes, etc.)
Take direction from the Art Director and Lead Artist and make changes as needed
Both work with engineers to ensure that your work is properly implemented into the game and incorporate your own work in the Unity game engine.
Collaborate and iterate with a small, passionate in-house team crafting a fantastic new game for mobile and tablet devices.

Requirements:

Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to work with a broad range of subjects and styles, from realistically detailed to colorful and stylized (with a strong emphasis on the latter).
Ability to create a variety of objects in 3D – especially props and characters - including efficient UV unwrapping and hand-painted texture maps.
Superb demonstrated skills in working within strict low-poly limitations. MUST have low-poly work in portfolio, not just Z-brush sculpts.
Strong 2D texture-painting skills, including a great sense of form and color, lighting and material rendering, human anatomy, character design and environments.
Highly knowledgeable in Maya or 3DS Max and Photoshop.
Unity experience strongly desirable but not absolutely necessary.
Strong passion for gaming. Experience working on games is desirable but not necessary.
Strong cross-functional communications skills; verbal, written, and visual.
Ability to take direction well and to play well with others. No prima donnas!
A desire to grow your skills and experience.
A terrific sense of humor.
Must be available to work full-time at our offices in San Francisco, CA.
Candidates without a demo reel WILL NOT be considered. Please include samples (or links to samples) of your work.

Benefits:

Daily catered lunches and dinners
Tons of snacks, drinks, etc.
