Does Mudbox have a function equivalent to Dynamesh?

One of the great features in Zbrush is Dynamesh, allowing for unrestricted deformation of sculpt topology when sketching something quickly. If I wanted to do this in Mudbox however, would I already have to block out all of the major and minor forms with a base mesh in Maya or Max etc? Is the mesh density fixed, allowing for only minor surface detailing?
