[UDK] End of year project.

Hi guys! this is my end of year school project based on a Windir's wizard's miniature (here it is http://www.gidian-gelaende.de/Material_HP/Windir/Wizards_Place/album/).
I'm pretty much done with it, but I still can improve it for my portfolio, so advices and critics are welcome

Looks great! Nice use of textures and colors.
IMO the tree seems a bit 'flat' (as in lighting/shadows) compared to the rest of the scene. Also I think some shadows are a bit too dark.

Those roof ornaments/beam things on the left building of the first shot look like sock puppets. It doesn't really match the style of the rest of the building and certainly not the tower it's connected to.

danpaz3d: For the tree i wanted to try Speedtree, but for the only tree in the map, which is supposed to be unique and original, a sculpt will be better. Defenitely on the to-do list ^^
FullSynch: yeah don't like these very much, but they were in the miniature, so I had to put them in the scene

very nice man, im just starting my final year project, but i am loving this. I think it sufferes from a lack of global illumination and maybe a tad over saturated? i dunno thats more from an art direction perspective. In terms of skill.... very good

Your shadows are extremely dark, I would brighten them up a tad. Try adjusting environment color under world properties to something more reasonable?

Great work! Either your AO is too much or you need to lower the darkness of the shadows. Other than that looking great so far

above the shadows being blatantly too dark, your shot composition skills need to improve drastically. I'm not sure what you are trying show in any of these shots; They are all unappealing.

Your rock an stone textures look a little more on the metal side, as if they were made of pewter. I like the design of the structures, very cool. I also like the color scheme. And I agree with all the other shadow comments.

Also worked on my shot composition, but i know that I'm not really good at this, so 'ill keep working on it ^^

Looking better.
Sorry to repeat but that tree is still bugging me. If you're not going to make a custom one, at least add some variation to the leaves and wood. Make the wood darker as well.

Composition is a bit better, best one I think is the third last.

Hey man great scene. I think lightening the shadows helped alot but some parts are still extremely black and getting lost. That likely is because your diffuse textures on things like the wood and stone are very dark, making the shadows very black and muddy. Try lightening the diffuse significantly -- even if it looks bright and washed out on the texture sheet you may find it plays better with the light.
