seth. polycounter lvl 14
morning.

Today is my fifth anniversary of joining polycount and i was thinking of doing something to mark that. I have recieved tons of help over the years from polycount U so i guess its time to give a little back if I can.

Following on from Haz's idea a year or so back I want to take on three fledgling character artists for a project to make a character each start to finish with weekly feedback/advice sessions via hangout/skype or whatever. I'm nowhere near Troys league, but I guess that I might have something to offer some folks with pipeline or the odd trick etc...

I want to get started around the beginning of October, and due to timezone fun would prefer people from the eurozone but anyone is welcome really...hell if anyone even takes up my offer I would be dead chuffed :D

take a look at my folio www.sethnash.com and if you think that it might be something you are interested in drop me a PM introduce yourself, throw me a link to some of your work, along with a link to a concept that you want to model and we can take it from there, get artists permissions etc...

As an additional note which ties in nicely with the current thread on PC Fb account I would like to thank, in no particular order some of the folks that have inspired and/or helped me out along the way:

Ben Davis,Jim Waters, Tom Parker, Tim Appleby, Patrick Morrison, Gav Goulden, Jon Troy Nickel, Joe Wilson, Paul Greveson, Vincent Joyau, Jon fletcher, Brian Jones, Mike Kime, Luke Starkie, Crystel Land, Chris Radsby, Dave Wilson, Jamie Gibson, Csaba Molnar, Joseph Harford, Pete Bernard, Lee Devonald..*EDIT* I forgot Manuel dischinger, who did amazing concept work on Origins so that we could make beautiful things....beer is on me next meet up manolo. . there are a lot more but this is sounding like a fucking Oscar acceptance so I will leave it at that.

Thank you polycount....I will leave you with a song thats only appropriate in the title, but I do love a bit of Bowie.

Just to avoid confusion I will post this here too:
Hey guys, update time.

It became terribly apparent to me that cutting to just three people was never going to be an easy task, with that in mind and because i really hate anything that sounds like hard work I have taken on seven people for this daft idea of mine.

One group of four and one group of three. I'm going to run this in two blocks of ten weeks: October through to mid December and then January through to mid March.

we still have to work out who is in which group yet but the people involved are:

Disanski: http://disanski.com/

Ponjarphy: http://www.jeffhhansen.com/studies

Chris Kuhner: http://www.artstation.com/artist/Chris_Kuhner

Ave: http://www.polygimp.com/

capable wizard: sketchbook thread

Brandon LaFrance: http://brandon.artstation.com/portfolio/caroline

ZicoV: http://markuslund3d.com/

congratulations guys, lets make some awesome characters!

Again, my apologies to anyone that wasn't picked, the response was greater than I ever would of imagined, and thank you all for taking the time to apply and educating me on how many promising character artists there are lurking the boards of polycount.

the first group thread will go live in the next few weeks so that we can get some reference boards up and out into the wild, but for now I have concepts to seek permission for and other stuff to organise
