Painting spider web onto mesh

Hey Polycount,

I'm looking into something quite specific, and I've looked around the internet, UDN and here on Polycount but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
I'm currently working with a team on a trailer for a game, for our 2nd year degree project, and what I need is a way to paint spider webs onto static meshes.

I'm aware of vertex painting, and it's something that we're doing, but more specifically I'm looking for something like the foliage mesh painting, except with spider webs, so instead of making meshes with spider web textures on them and placing them about the scene, I could just paint them right onto geometry.

I'm going to spend today looking into cloth in UDK, and probably have spider webs hanging down and flapping around, but if possible I'd like to be able to paint them onto meshes.

Perhaps there is a plugin? Or some technique? If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks !:)
