3ds Max: Problem with creating tris with freeform-extend

Hi everyone!
I have a problem here that I don't know how to solve.
I'm doing the retopology of a character in 3ds Max using the graphite modeling tools, everything works fine exept for the fact that using the extend option to bridge two edges to create a triangle doesn't work..
It works fine to create quads though. It's getting really annoying since every time I have to go back and cap the tris and switch back and forth to target weld if I want to create tris.
I checked and I don't have that problem on the 3ds Max at work and the settings that I managed to find are the same.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
