3ds max UI settings disappeared

I use 3ds Max 2014 and ive been getting weird glitches in my scene (vertices exploding off screen when I apply a turbosmooth modifier, and crashes when I use some edit poly functions)
I just restarted for like the 5th time, and suddenly all my UI settings are gone. Keybinds, modifier sets, Utilities menu all reset to default. I use two custom toolbars, one self made and one for soulburn, and both of those are still there, but everything else seems to be gone.
Is there something I can do to troubleshoot/fix this, or recover my settings somehow?
edit: I dont know if the weird glitches are related, but I just mentioned them in case. I think it all started when I pressed my swift loop hotkey when I was using the cut tool, and somehow that made a phantom edge on to my model and when I tried to remove it, it crashed for the first time.
edit2: also reset are all my preferences, and grid/snap settings
