Multiple diffuse textures, one material one model

Hey guys,
got a question, i used to know how to do this but i completely forgot, i have a tree and one uv set for the trunk and one for the leaves, i want to apply the two different diffuse textures i have in one material and have them respect their uv coords and not "overlap" each other, i cant remember how, i know it's not add or multiply because that blends them together, if i remember right i have to create a material instance(i think), can anyone help? i learned it from 3dmotive but now i dont have my subscription to it anymore
