Maya UV selection issue

Hi guys, recently when unwrapping my model in Maya I've come across this issue - when I select any part of my model's unwrap in the UV texture editor, it hides all the other parts of the unwrap. Does anyone know what's going on?
Here're two images to illustrate what I'm experiencing

    Isn't this standard Maya behavior when selecting faces in the UV Editor? At least, in versions prior to 2015 where they removed it.

    Agreed this is a real pain sometimes when doing your UV's.
    But its natural behavior in face mode in Maya's UV editor.
    In the UV editor,with faces selected,go CTRL /Right Click --|>to UV they will reappear.Then you can move them into place/adjust them.
    (For multiple objects:In the Main viewport(Perspective) in object mode select all objects,then all uv's are shown in the uv editor.Then in the UV editor,CTRL/Right Click--> to UV and youll be able to go from there)
