I've been waiting for this. As a reader this was a point in the story where I just felt like I couldn't read on. I did, eventually but it did take some time to sink in...

I watched a part of the episode before, but couldn't bear to watch it with audio (in work at the moment). I'll have a cry about it tonight. It's going to be a hard episode to watch. :(

I had already read through this part, and I knew this was going to happen. It did absolutely NOTHING to soften the blow. I was having an anxiety attack the whole episode. Just brutal.

The Red Wedding has landed. And they shot/staged it really well. There were a few significant differences from the books, but none of them spoiled it. In fact, a few of them ratcheted up the intensity considerably.

My sister is expecting, and I get to be an uncle in a few months. Watching the unborn-baby stabbing was really rough for me. I knew Robb's wife probably wasn't going to survive the episode, but it was still incredibly brutal. This episode was probably the darkest of the entire series so far. Even harder to watch than Ned Stark's execution.

    That point relies on
Sybell Westerling telling the truth, and with the swapping out of Jeyne fooling Jamie, she could have been lying about the abortion juice as well.
can probably take that as a sign from GRRM that there is no heir in the books either, as he's told the producers how the story ends.

My everything hurts so much! I'm really glad my friends didn't do the usual Game of Thrones sunday night gathering, as they would have had a house full of weeping men.

Random rant. I LOVE how GOT doesn't work within the same "safety" rules that most shows and movies do. I really love that it is utterly unpredictable! I hope that this kind of storytelling becomes a trend and is echoed in other shows/movies. Everyone plays it so damn safe! The walking dead is another example of this style of storytelling. I enjoy falling skies but it's mindless and incredibly stale, and predictable storytelling.

i dunno if i can bring myself to watch it... it's honestly the biggest WTF moment in the books (well, it's way up there, there's a few pretty big ones). i had to re-read that chapter 3 times just to believe it happened.

i find myself really emotionally invested in the family through reading the books. seeing it happen is probably going to be worse than my imagination.

wondering what they'll use for the finale though, it'll either be...
    castle black,

    or

the other wedding, setting up for Tyrion and Sansa's escape from le capital, and all of the next season to deal with it

    @wester,
Yeah, that's what i like about this show aswell. It doesn't play it safe, you don't have situations where you would think "ah, i'm sure this can't happen because this just isn't that type of show"....you never know what's going to happen.

I started to watch animes not long ago, and that is exactly what i love about them. They don't play safe at all, they tend to pull out all sorts of things where you can't think anything but "wtf did just happen..."...And then when you return to your regular tv shows, you see just what kind of difference there is, with exception in GoT.

It's just far more enjoying when you really don't know what can or cannot happen.

So yeah, i do hope aswell other tv shows take that storytelling aswell.

Please lay off any mention of the books, in fact shouldn't there already be a different thread for them? Comments like `well if you think this.... then....' spoils it even with a hint of what might happen. But still that was an interesting episode, already spoilt by a newspaper 'previewing' what the main jist of the series was going to be like.

How does killing someone mean you have no morals? I could argue that she killed him, knowing he was going to die anyway, in an attempt to save snow. Which seems fairly reasonable. In fact I'd say Arya killing that young kid was worse than what ygritte did, since it was hardly self defense...

-TV spoiler (nothing from the books)
remember last episode (or the one before that, can't remember exactly, the conversation between cersei and Margaery Tyrell.

Where she talks about a house/family (house reyne) that rebelled against the lannisters, and then her father basicly putting them down/making sure that house no longer exists.
That is what the song is about, named "rains of castamere", and is a known lannister song.

^ it's actually way worse than that, they didn't show the most brutal parts of the wedding (yet?)

I don't care 4 Robb, but Catelyn never deserved what happened to her and everything is so just mean and nasty in the book.

i dunno, reading through the books again made me realise it's less and less likely, and this episode pretty much confirmed it.

the heir to Winterfell is likely to be Rickon at this point.

spoiler if you didn't see last episode:
My only question was why did Snow's brother (the one who can control animals) not try to reach out to Snow after he helped protect him? Instead he just said, oh btw I saw John and he was being attacked.

In the books, if I recall correctly--when he's in the wolf's mind he has wolf instincts and its very hard for him to go against those. Also, I think he might have seen John waayyy earlier when he was a wolf...Yes, it was still jon+wildlings outside the tower, but I dont think Bran&crew knew that. I think they combined some scenes. Ah, it's been years since I read Storm, someone else probably would remember it better. Either way, in the show he witnessed Jon get away..and bran and crew werent exactly trying to draw attention to themselves.

regarding Jon + Bran (from the books):
in the book, at this point Bran's warging abilities are fairly limited, he's only really just started to go into Summer outside of his sleep, and even then he can't control Summer so much as just try to interpret the instincts he feels.

in the books, all of the direwolves share a deep and meaningful bond not just with each other, but with the Starks. Summer recognised Jon by scent, and by bond, not by appearance.

more on Jeyne Westerling (from the books)
Apparently Tywin had been in cahoots with Jeyne's mother in the books, and she'd been giving her herbs and drinks to stop pregnancy even occuring, and Jaime had given their (Jeyne and her mother) escort instructions to kill them should anybody try to rescue/capture them, and that in order to put any stories of an heir to rest, she was not to meet with other men for two full years.

I guess I might be one of the few that was happy to see Robb and his mom die, Robb's wife didn't deserve that though. I've never read the books but for the past couple of episodes those two have been pissing me off. I'm now waiting for that cry baby in the torture chamber to die next, but I get a feeling that he might not die....I hope he does, lol.
