Hey guys
Thought I would show my next project nice and early this time, its going to be a month long project (all of September in other words). Its inspired by the last of us main menu and of course the awesome diorama work Scott Homer has done.

Wanted to play around with the bricks a bit more too. I think having some a bit more twisted and falling out would be nice.

I'm liking what you have so far. The broken glass feels a little unnatural - perhaps it needs to be more jagged like this -

Have you thought about how the glass was broken? This may give you some indication on how it should look.

I like the bricks, those will probably work well, I think the wood looks too wobbly tho. Also maybe break open a floor plank? Proper lighting can make this look killer when it's finished
Screenshots should be showing now for post 9.
Been using a lot of dDo for this its great for getting a base ans adding effects quickly but, need to go in and really detail the assets now.

Think I am about ready to call this done unless anyone wants to suggest any other changes. I can still give more time to it in that case, need to optimize some of the textures as most are still at work resolution. Any and all feedback welcome as always.

Made a few more changes based on feedback from here and twitter.All the textures are 512 and 1024 apart from the main floor that I left at 2048.

This scene is really coming along. Your sculpt is lovely, and it looks to be making a great little vignette.
Two things stand out to me: Your colors and your lighting.
Your colors are all coming from that same warm tone family - Reds, browns, oranges. I think the scene could use a little variation in that sense. I'm not too sure what you can do about that at this stage, maybe some shifting here and there to add a bit more color contrast.
As far as the lighting is concerned, I think everything is lit pretty evenly. I'd like to see a bit more drama in the setup. Right now I can see the footprint of what looks to be 2 point lights hitting the floor. These lights aren't motivated by anything and it makes the scene feel a bit off. It might be cool if you introduced a floor lamp that was the driving source for your lighting in the scene. That way you could justify having a pool of light that falls off from one side to the other because I think some light attenuation/gradation would add more interest here.
Either way, this is looking really nice. Just a couple touch-ups, and maybe some minor prop work to complete the "view".

Thanks so much great feedback, totally agree with everything you pointed out and taking it all on board.
Had a few other people suggest things as well so I quickly blocked out on idea for how to fill some of that space and give more of a story to the scene. Gona have more of the destruction on the edges too as you can see I have started to play around with falling bricks, its all pretty rough at the moment though.
More or less thinking of having an old wooden chair (or maybe a chesterfield) with a lamp and a few books beside it.

- brick colour variation, at first glance brick walls do look orange, however this is the culmination of many different hues in a lot of cases, particularly with older bricks like yours. A quick tip is to take some of your reference images into photoshop and risize it to 28 x 28 or something small, but use the 'nearest neighbour - preserve hard edges' option. Now zoom in and observe allll the different colours, browns, pinks, purples, blues...this will give you a lovely colour palette to sample allowing you to add in some subtle colour variation. You can even do it on a new layer set to soft light, with low opacity, and just lightly brush in some new colours.
- brick dark edges, whilst looking at some of your brick reference, it does appear that the individual bricks are separated by dark lines, however, this is the shadow between the bricks, rather than a dark edge on the brick itself. Infact, at the edges of your bricks it might be nice to have a subtle, lighter edge to emphasise the softness and bevel of the edges themselves. Having the dark edge to your brick texture makes them appear overly and a little unrealistically dirty in my opinion. Maybe give the lighter edge a try, or even just removing the dark edge and compare it to some more brick ref and see what you think.
Window scale - it's hard to tell from your reference images since there are no scale indicators (like people in the shots) but something about your windows makes the panes of glass seem a little too large for that style of frame...perhaps you could try thickening the wooden frames or experimenting with more 'rows and columns' of panes, if you know what I mean? I also might try a different colour wood frame, like peeling white paint for example, to separate it from the brick, which is a similar colour to the wood right now.
Here's a few points for you to consider anyway, really just minor adjustments that you might want to play with and see what you think. They are only suggestions though, ha I won't be offended if the next update doesn't include them! Just keep on going with this it's really hotting up, look forward to the next update!

I like where it is going though. Really nice!
But I do agree its quite unnatural for furniture placement at the same time. Might need to toy around with it more.
