Hi all.

I'll be posting all my stuff here from now on. Dont know how active it'll be but I'll try.

Hope to get some good feedback so I can improve!
This seems like a great forum for that.

First off a Demon Head practice. Polypainted and sculpt in Zbrush and comp in PS:

Next is a crocodile ninja type of character. I was really inspired by this

I plan on doing a 10k tris version fully textured and normal mapped.

Highpoly soon done just need some cleaning up and some smaller details I guess.

Any suggestions and comments are very much appriciated!

jeremiah_bigley: Hey man, thanks. I've seen some of your stuff lately, and you're rocking the lowpoly stuff man!

Okay I've done a very fast detail pass on the head again.

I think he looks a bit more badass like this, so I'll refine it more in this direction unless you guys got some awesome suggestions

So he looks fucking awesome, I would love to see him in a game...however, those scales on his head go the wrong direction. They should be vertical bumps, not horizontal :x

TeriykakiStyle: Haha, that's awesome. Looks kinda silly though, but I get your point. But at this point im ready to go with him as he is, but thanks a bunch for the input.

More spikes! Love the crocodile! I especially love his anatomy. He's not a regular croc stood on two legs and stuffed in a diving suit, nor is he some weird human with a crocodile face. Everything just looks right.

This is just a personal frustration for me, so feel free to ignore it, but what's up with claws on the gloves? I've worn gloves that have fingernails attached and they're just obnoxious as all get out. What if he had fingerless gloves (and fingerless glove-boots)? I think it'd make the hands and feet look more interesting.

About the fingers and toes; I think it would loose the clean design im going for. I really appriciate the input and suggestion, though!

Here's the high poly done. Did go for a hardened skin type of style with the details. I like the hard feet, like it's his natural armor.

anyway, any comments or suggestions are appreciated, but I wont do any big changes to the model now. Gotta start on the lowpoly, or i'll never get this done!

jeremiah_bigley; Thanks dude! Yeah, I'm thinking kind of darkish like a batman costume, but still more blueish and saturated. For the croc's skin I'm gonna try a couple of things. Maybe some purple would be cool.

Nice clean design you have there man. How about adding a strape around the tail and have a couple of pouches on it.

Hi again!

I've _finally_ gotten to do a pose, base texture and a render of my croc! Took forever to do low poly, but the result was worth it!
Still WiP. Can do alot more with the texture and spec map. And ofcourse he's lacking his swords

does the colors work?

Anyways.. got a suggestion to bring in more red color to the suit - to complement the green.

Heyy!

I'm finally done with this. Pretty pleased with the result.

All renders from Marmoset Toolbag, no image editing or brushups. (except for some minor BG stuff)

He's sitting at roughly 20k tris.
A 2k map used for the body textures, and a 2k map for Head, Sword and grenades.

Crits and comments are greatly appriciated!

My only critique is that the croc's lower body kind of blends in with the background on your key shot. It might be worth trying to brighten up the background a little bit or to increase the size of the magenta spotlight.

The design is really awesome. It'd be great to see him rigged and animated to fight something with those two swords.

The texture for the face seems a bit plain compared to the rest of the body. Crocodilians have a distinctive textured skin even away from the bony ridges. The white areas can also have darker green flecks, and the folds between the scales are often darker as well.

The snout reminds me of a gharial.

It has a brilliant silhouette. Not just readable but easily uses the instant recognition symbols for 'ninja' and 'crocodile' I'd say.

Oh wow, great work! Very clean, beautiful, I think you really nailed it. If I had to nitpick I'd say the eye area looks a little off to me - a bit flat. It's hard to tell from this angle but it would be nice to see the round form of the eye emphasized a bit more.
