I think it only stands out because they're not obviously high. Like if the mask was double the size of his head and his eyes were at nose level, it wouldn't seem so odd. They're just too close to where they should be.
Also, I guess, it doesn't look like a mask, per se. It looks like a board he put eye holes in. Maybe some decorative paint would help?

No I just looked up stuff and had fun. They arent really reflections I just screenshotted the game environment and then overlayed it onto the windows in photoshop. these cars are usually quite small and we have about 20 on screen so real time reflections would have been overkill. Thanks people!
