So it looks like a new Gears of War has been revealed.

Do you guys reckon it'll run on UE3 or be a showcase for UE4?

(I might also add that regardless of what I said above, I'm still stoked for a new Gears game :P)

$10 says gears 4 is a prequal, leading up to Marcus' incarceration.

qft, But it wont have the gears 4 name, until a couple of years later when Microsoft decides its time for gears 4 5 and 6. Oh wait...

Thanking you.

Although your response begs the question - is UE4 not scalable to older tech', such as the 360 and PS3 then?

I ask because UE3 is pretty universal and there are even 3rd party revisions of it to work with Wii hardware. Presumably, mobile developers would still be using UE3 for a little while as UE4 would be reserved for consoles and PC.

UE4 is supposed to push hardware development.

Epic said they had a PC exclusive in the works? So... wouldn't that probably be using Unreal 4?

Possibly, but not necessarily. Depends entirely on their expected timelines.

Using UE4 would make sense. Technology showcase on real example, for much wider public.

Depends if porting is easier or not, asset wise, most likely, but code wise, with Kismet 1.0 out of the window and UnrealScipt 1.0 too, I wouldn't be surprised if this requires some peeps doing extra work to bring it to working order to the same iteration as of the other games.

I mean last thing we need is another Sam Fisher game where you have 10 different engine version for 10 different versions of the game.
There's a very good chance that I experienced MORE problems, then all the internet put together in the area of 3D. Talk about being original for once...

seeing the popcorn effect with the particle emitter at the end of the video. I'll wait for the full UE4 video to confirm. Maybe Epic improved the particle spawning

If it's truly dynamic-lighting only, then no, it wouldn't be very scalable to older tech. Some devs might try and make custom builds with their own light baking solutions though.

PC Exclusive. PC<.
Why would they port anything if they started making new game on UE4 in the first place.
They are working on UE4 for more than 5 years now. It's not something that just popup from air.

Particles just popping into existence, visibly - like how popcorn suddenly pops into existence from corn in a pan.
