I'm attempting vertex painting for the first time but can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've followed the standard tutorials but I'm must be doing something wrong because when I try to apply the "paint", nothing happens. Here is my material and mesh paint options, very default stuff, no tweaking initiated yet.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you try and paint using Red as your color?

paint with just the red channel and drag the value slider to the left.

also your going to want to do more with teh shader to get a better blend transition at somepoint.

Use the buttons on the bottom of the mesh paint dialog - toggle it to RGB for example. Then you can see the actual vertex colors in the editor viewport. Odds are that you aren't painting as strongly as you think you are.
