Hey guys.

I just started playing with UDK recently and I've got an undoubtedly simple issue with the skybox/dominant direction light when I activate light shafts.

Basically they don't appear to sync up. The shafts come through normally at the map origin and angle more severely the further from the origin I move.

Here's a pic:

Sorry if it's a trivial issue, but my google-fu and reverse engineering skills are lacking today.

Thanks

It's a bug - they're not implemented properly.

Why use a Skylight when there are Dominant Directional Lights?

He's talking about dominant directionals (ignore the topic title).

Light shafts always appear correctly at the origin, and increasingly incorrectly the further you move from it. It's been like that for a very long time and it doesn't look like Epic are interested in fixing it.

Yeah sorry, didn't mean to confuse.

I noticed the example and showcase maps don't seem to have such a severe case of it. Any tips on minimizing the noticeability?

Thanks

Increase the trace distance of the light. Like 10000 times more than what it is by default. It's a setting in the light properties. That should fix the lightshaft orientation.
