This is going to be extremely long but I promise you well worth the read.

I've been a member of Polycount since 2006, and a lurker from way before that and I have never seen a trail quite like the one I discovered last night. While reading this thread here http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94724 about FREElance and this project called Metal Impact I was intrigued to find out more about the original poster Heartbreak.

Well soon after looking at her/his profile I saw little information. Some interesting stuff, 3d modeler, nascar mechanic (cool job), and then the contact info tduworld@yahoo.com and a skype name crystallinaprimacy. So bored off my ass last night I dropped the skype name into google search and BOOM so many hits came up on different sites. So I checked em out.



The first was the google profile. My god this can't be real. This chicks pretty hot, but one pic on a profile can't be too real so I wanted to dig more.



Oh but look the same interests as the persons polycount name...



and some company names... Interesting... More on that later.

So I went ahead and looked at another link that I found on google. It was too a Hentai forum, no less. Amazing.. Yeah so not all of that shit is safe for work so be careful.

But that can't be because we had a BlueAce as well that registered and posted in Heartbreaks thread and said they would help. But they have the same info and emails and names... Interesting...Then theres this. Talking to HeartBrake that we are all being idiots. Ok so that chick looks like a porn star too and has the same name on other forums...

Well this guy screenname - Climax (how fitting) said he had a deviantart account. Well lets take a look... He goes by the name ~Pixellizer . Wow that concept of the truck from Twisted Metal is sick... Lets look...




hmm no stealing at all permitted and give credit where the credit is due...

So this guy is saying himself and two other names that look familiar from our own forums now that i pointed out and the hentai forum earlier. Hmmm so what the hell is going on here?

Well a tineye search on that image brings up another deviantart account...



Haha so two people are claiming this is their picture. Well I follwed the other links on tineye and found a REAL concept artist by the name of Donald Yatomi... Very talented guy. Here is his image from CGHUB

Oh he's now friends with Mendi Meyer... (another name I came across as being a fraud and potentially the real name of this person) during my trip into Jesse in Wonderland....

Mendi is also banned from gamedev.net




Obviously I spent a fair amount of time on this but it's clear that this person is a fraud and connected to all of these accounts and we do not need people like this anywhere around our forums or our industry. Ripping other artists off, trying to get work done for them for free...

I commend you for some thorough research, but i have to say why bother? Yeah this guys/girl/bridge troll is a piece of shit, but... i dunno. there are more important things to do. It was an interesting read, really makes you realize what humans can do with anonymity.

edit: was just reading the other thread you posted in the beginning, agreed that exposing these people to keep them the fack out of PC is worth it.

But, I didn't understand(maybe I read too fast)....Dynasty Weapons is real or not?

TrevorJ... yeah it's quite a time waster but i was just amazed at the lengths this person is going. Plus I was sitting browsing last night while trying to get my kids to bed and learned all this shit...

So where's the thrilling conclusion?! I did like the plot twist where 'she' turns out to be a 'he' but then things just sort of tapered off after the twisted metal concept. Maybe he/she/it could be a sentient computer program or something? or a robot? hmm...

Moral of the story, there are no secrets on the internet. I love reads like these. Reminds me if the Da Vinci Code.

Jesse you went about this all wrong. Any investigative reporter worth their salt would have gone undercover; and then after a few weeks of playing along, you set-up a regular meeting and then BOOM a cameraman walks in and you tell them who you really are.

I was wondering how that person came to the conclusion that "Heartbrake" was a female. It's got to be hard to keep track of so many personas

Anyways, I commend the investigation as people need to know what to be aware of. I've been burned a few times and a thread like this could've prevented that.

i actually applied for that Gallactic Outlaws thing and even made an art test. but after 2 skype chats with ms/mr Crystallina my common sense was tingling so badly that i lost all the interest in the project and cut all the communication.
Some research only confirmed the doubts. though thank god i haven't gotten anywhere as deep as you. (i did discover that the Crystallina persona is bisexual though)

I also wrote a mail to one of studios that were supposed to be funding the project.
never got reply, but finding out that mendi is a teenager was kinda enough.

Ms/Mr C did lie to me few times - for example she/he said that the banned DA page of dynastyweapons was "fake" and that she didn't made it. yeah, right. it was ridiculously easy to check.
and also wrote conctradicing things about the nature of the job several times.

Wow, thats pretty annoying.

When I saw the unity post that said that everybody has to take an art test, regardless of portfolio quality...that raised a red flag for me. Sounds like a good way to rip off people with free work. I wonder if this guy/girl/whatever is involved in this thread:

Anyways, the problem is, you can ban this guy all you want, but things like this will just keep popping up. I feel bad, because this guy can trick a lot of unsuspecting people, here on polycount or any other forum, and give them the wrong idea about FREElancing and the industry in general.

Only thing you can do is keep people aware of these shady deals and hope that common sense stops people from wasting their time on these projects.
