Your art is really cool, man. Awesome values and textures. And your portfolio of 3d stuff is obviously super sick.
This isn't something i'm any better at, but i think the composition on your environments is really weak, and holding them back quite a bit. Do you have any books or videos on the subject of creative environments?

Hey, thanks for your input man.
I have Syd Mead's thumbnail sketching,
Feng's Perspective Training and Sketching environments.
Anything else you can recommend? Also feel free to drop more specific feedback. Much appreciate it.

Unfortunately i can't offer much specific help man, it's something i struggle with even more than you do.
Maybe try out some different exercises to get you thinking of envrionments in different ways? If i had to guess, i'd think you have the same problem i do with environments -- when you're painting an environment you have to really focus on defining the perspective/forms and it prevents you from freeing up and focusing on the composition, so maybe a really different workflow would let you bust out more creative pieces
This is really neat, albiet pretty expensive:

And this may be something cool to try out, i know jackwhat here uses these techniques a lot:

Lastly, and most importantly, if you don't already own it, get the skillful huntsman! There's a video review down in the comments, the book will blow you away.

hey thanks guys that amazing info. Scott Robertson has some amazing vehicular stuff - Ill be sure to check it out when I have a chance.
And his environment technique is awesome - I've seen this one already and yeas it rocks. But I guess I'm just not familiar with the basic stuff, so this will have to wait. I mean what you see here is pretty much all I can make myself draw/paint so I'll wait until I'll do a few hundreds of those and then definitely check it out.

meanwhile, a little movie study. damn, I'm slow

Your compositions and use of color are really really awesome. Your feudal japanese stuff to the plane strip to the car, just awesome

Thank you very much sir Gillmeister! Though they are not entirely mine - these are mostly studies so I usually base them on something, some interesting lighting situation that catches my eye.
some more, way quicker this time:

What are you not sure about in that painting above? I'm not a 2d guy by any means so I can't really critique, but it looks great to me! Keep it up!

o.m.g. your landscape paintings are a bomb! Really love the soft transition of colors and its easiness, hard to explain.. it just pleases my eyes so much I could look at it forever (wouldn't mind having it on a wall in my room)!
