So hi all, and first off, I want to explain that I'm new to this forum and I'm sorry for any of my mistakes and I'm sorry if that thread is in bad section.

Okay then, the reason why I created this thread is because I would like to learn modeling. And, here comes another explanation. I'm 15, but everyone says I have potential. I learned barebones of HTML when I was 10, I even made one program, but that's not for now.

I had some experiences with 3DS Max when I was, like, eleven, and I still remember that it was the best modelling program I have ever used. The second one, being it Blender, I got to use recently. But, I just can't understand how to use it, I mean, in 3DS everything was so easy to me when I was 11, and Blender is hard to use for me when I'm 15. I watched many tutorials, I even experimented lots myself, but I'm still not familiar with it. So, could anyone help me, like, be my guru, my Master on the way to 3D graphics? (I could buy 3DS, but I can't afford it.)

Only problem would be the time I could "take lessons". Because of some reasons I can get on PC only on weekends and on Wednesday.

So, thanks for reading my long post and thanks in advance if someone decides to help little man ;)

(sorry for any spelling/grammar/sense mistakes, I'm not native English, I get only "As" from English in school, but if I want to sound really English and cool then it comes out I'm actually sounding stupid, I believe.)

Welcome to Polycount

Funny thing about Blender, the developers claim it's easier for a new user than "other" apps but I think it's not really the case. What version are you using? 2.49b or one of the newer builds 2.54 or later? Blender 2.5 has a much better UI which might make learning it easier.

About Max, if you're a student you can get a free to use educational version of Max/Maya/Mudbox and pretty much anything else Autodesk has to offer. You should look into that.

Autodesk Education Community

I think all you need is a .edu or some such email address and you're good to go. Alternatively a teacher could also sign you up.

Good luck with your learning, the wiki is a good place to start.

Don't worry about your English, it's just fine.

Thanks for much help

I'm using Blender 2.49, because I was trying to make something to Team Fortress 2, and I couldn't get the 2.54 to work with the Python scripts I needed.

About the educational editions, would the @moddersoftherow.org go well? I can get it easily, because I have good contacts with one person modding Saints Row 2 (I'm modding it too, that's why I can get it). I tell it, because I think it's not really "connected". Maybe there are any free .edu e-mails out there? I will try to find one. Oh, and my teacher... Don't get me started with her, she's "that" lazy type.

Oh, and I remember I had Maya LE once from somewhere, it wasn't hard to use, so I will try it too.

Big thanks for advices!

I don't think there's any way to get a .edu account other than through a school.

I think there are probably other ways to get access to the Autodesk Education Community, though that would probably take some phone calls or real mail from your school, maybe a faxed student ID to Autodesk would do the trick.

If your teacher is lazy, try to get help from another one, or a counselor.

I decided to talk with my teacher, maybe the outcome will be what I need, if you know what I mean I'll have to wait for Wednesday, but, well, I hope it will be worth it. And, again, thanks for the help
