khthon, again with the excellent ref/crit
I was actually planning to base the detail/texture design on the 1850 Colt Navy, a gorgeous badass of a gun from the year Moby Dick was writen (published in 1851) but I'll definatley spend some time wit these ref's as well. cheers

-oh and pipe equalls=awesome=5th slot=epic win

komfyrion, Brettthefirst, kwakkie: thanks guys

Pipes!

Number 2 works better. It needs kickass whale-killing engravings too.

I like #2 pipe, the stem could stand to be a little longer though - after all, it has to compete with gigantic harpoon gun and towering hat!

the name will need some work, but i think the texture actually turned out quite well. it's using a 256 atm though.

Does the pipe actually work in game? I'd imagine that you'd get some funky effects if it stays in place while the mouth forms all kinds of shapes, potentially clipping as well.

Melville's Metaphor is already a GREAT name, man!

I love what you did with the scrimshaw whale on the pipe.

The pipe would probably be like the Spy's cig, just stuck to the corner of his mouth.

If he can't get it to work right there's always the rim of Ishmael's Headsail to stick the pipe in.

Ugh, why do there have to be so many incredible packs for the sniper?
This is very nice work Mr Scudz, it would be wonderful to see this make it into the game.
