Hey guys,

So I've been thinking...damn it would be fun if the medic could do more offensively while still retaining his core usefulness of healing the team; Not a Rambo medic who ignores his teammates, but something to help them along while the Medic makes an occasional kill.

With that said, the core theme is going to be a sort of "Science, but Deadly"


UNLOCK 1: "Das Über Bubbler" (Good name pending..)

German scientist's have been hard at work trying to find a way to control and harness the power of "Das Über" for many years now, and finally a tangible breakthrough has occurred...Das Über Bubbler contains breakthroughs in containment field technology which allows for the creation of "Über Bubbles" outside of their respective high tech containment fields.

This hand-held device will allow a Medic to heal teammates as per the usual, however the major difference lies in the use of it's powerful Über charges.

When activated, "Das Über Bubbler" will birth forth a small sphere of Über energy, approximately six feet in diameter (Subject to change). This sphere has all appropriate physics (mass/momentum/friction/collision) and for all intensive purposes is considered a solid object to the enemy team. After being launched, the sphere will roll forward in the direction which is was aimed, until physics takes over, at a moderate speed. Enemies caught in it's path will be pushed aside, or better yet crushed if you can manage to pin them against something or get the ball moving fast enough, whilst teammates who encounter this bizarre sphere will be granted a short invulnerability (something like 1-3 seconds) and have a small heal-over-time applied (Roughly equivalent to a small health kit). The sphere has no collision for friendlies. It will also block incoming projectiles such as: Rockets, Stickies, Pipebombs, Arrows, Flares, and so on.
Personal reflection on how I see this being used...Think of War40k, Big Mek's Kustom-Force-Field, something that can be deployed and used for breaking through choke points and/or providing a sort of mobile cover as your team crosses open ground. And let's not forget, it's basically a giant bowling ball.

I'll keep working on some more thumbs for the medi-gun and continue to concept ideas two and three. So stay tuned for those and potentially more, along with the re-introduction of Plague!

Making the medigun dangerous is a wicked idea, something I wouldn't have thought of at least. I'm not sure about launching a ball though... but maybe it's just me having a hard time picturing it. : P


Not directly related to your weapons, but something like a life sucking beam when ubering would have been funny, but there's too many things that work against that... such as the medic's battle cries when using uber, not being so useful to the team(unless you somehow give the leeched life to another player) and autoaim.

I dig the idea. Maybe have the ball heal teammates and hurt enemies for a certain period of time? Dont know. Cool stuff tho. Cant wait to see more.
