Hey, I've been using maya for about 6 months now, and recently i have been having trouble reseting the scale, move and rotational tools whenever it would enlarge, never letting me have a good grip of the controls.

I went to modify - reset transformation, then to transformation tools, and tried every option there, and nothing worked out.

usually the reset tool option did the trick.

what else can i do?

By "it would enlarge", do you mean the manipulators themselves?

The manipulator size is assigned to the hotkeys + and - (on the numpad I think), so if the manipulator is too big you can just hit - a few times. I imagine you hit + by accident or something to make it enlarge.
