created Need the best free website design site
on 05-31-2011 01:18 PM
Can anyone recommend the best online web-page designer I could use? I'm searching Google for something free, with no ads (or minimal ads) and an editor that isn't restrictive. If anyone knows of something offhand let me know, it'll help a lot.

well, it's not a an online designer (which I've always found too restrictive) but I did design my portfolio with Kompozer which is free.

i would suggest you take the time and learn how to do it yourself, html is quite easy and thats all that is required for creating a basic portfolio. add a few simple images from any type of image editing software, and you have yourself a site.
the sites that were listed above are good, so if you feel like going that route then you should have no problem, but a quick google search and a few hours of your time will lead to a much better understanding of simple coding and design, and it will never hurt to have the experience.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>My Portfolio</title>
</head>
<body>
<a href="location of your art page">art</a>
<br>
<img src="location of image file on server">
<br>
Here's where my text content will go
</body>
</html>
theres a fully functional html site, done in roughly 3 minutes. if you feel confused or have questions, feel free to give me a shout over private message or any of my messaging platforms (you can find my info in my profile). best of luck

Hey guys, thanks to point me up Carbonmade. I though this site was dead, but the service still good.
Spend some time today filling the portfolio there, and seems I can save some bucks and headaches using this instead a custom domain name + hosting.
Is there any issue when accessing this site inside companies (blacklisted?) or can you guys see the content of this free sites in Tablets devices?
Anyway It´s simply works!

I do know a little HTML, enough to make my own blog look nice, but no enough to actually make a professional-looking site for my parents' work.
Thanks for the links though, I'm looking into a few of them

Well, Renaud could be right, since some employers use this in-built galleries to search new talents.
This conversation reminds me to close my host and stay only with the domain name. Saved me some bucks and I could pick a premium DA account (which gives me the Portifolio option, similar to the Carbonmade one), just stay with DAfolio because a Paypal issue.

 The moment I settle down on a free website to start a portfolio. People adds more. I think this should be somewhere on the wiki portfolio. It would be much easier. Well time to start digging through all the sites people posted on here.

I honestly suggest as Laz said, to use Wordpress or Blogspot since they have changed alot in the past few years and are easier then ever to use.
Some of them premade sites like Carbonmade have put up some insane limitations over the past few years, and other use Flash, which takes forever to load.
There's a very good chance that I experienced MORE problems, then all the internet put together in the area of 3D. Talk about being original for once...

wix.com is free and their app market is getting better each day. Just drag and drop in html5 editor and you can make some beautiful pages very quickly. Not as in-depth as other sites, but the app market is worth it imo

Learn HTML - its so easy and straight up to learn.
Since you want to put big images right on the viewers face,
you dont need to learn fancy coding stuff - and you
can customize your side as you want it to..
