This is a remake of the main character from an old Sega Genesis`s game called Chakan.

My idea here was to recreate this character as he would be for an actual game in this generation. It was a tricky production but fun to make. The character has 15437 triangles and 3094 for the weapons, I used 5 map channels to achieve better quality since there is almost nothing mirrored in the UV layout.
Rendered using scanline.

Thanks to all my friends who supported me specialy Flavio Hoffe for the great tips.

I agree with Lampekap, I love the presentation! Great Portfolio pic there! I think you did a great job. I really love the mud normal and texture on the bottom of the coat! The pants are the only area that kinda reads bland..but that's just a small nitpick, its a great piece man!

Great work man! I remember this game back from the Sega Genesis days - but never actually played it. This does make me want to do so, although I heard the game can be quite frustrating. Good work overall on the geometry and maps; I agree with Grey about the mud on the bottom of the coat - it's a very nice touch. His head does look to be somewhat big for his body, but perhaps it was a stylistic choice on your end. The head does read well in the close-up head shot you provided, though. Thanks for sharing, this is definitely inspiring.

EDIT: Actually, never mind about the slightly big head comment. I just looked at the official Chakan - The Forever Man art and his head seems to be around that size... This really is a great current-gen interpretation of him.

Dude, totally remember this game! Great Execution man. I really like this. I agree his head might be a little too big, but I think this is fantastic. Good job.

first thing I thought was "his head is too big" but other than that this is awesome. I wanted to do a Chakan bust but never got around to it. Some day though.

Excellent model!

Also Chakan the game was the shit!

FUCK YES. I didn't have a Genesis and was always jealous of Sega owners for getting this game. I just loved the character design and the whole package and you did a great job transitioning it to 3d. Straight into my inspiration folder.

Hey, guys. I am very glad that you liked.
Thanks for the amazing feedback.

About the size of the head that some people mentioned, I tested a lot the size and tried a smaller head, but this way he looked too strong with large shoulders. My intention was to make him very thin.

I realized that the angle and pose I used in the first image gives the impression that the head is slightly bigger than it really is.

cheers

Nice job, particularly like the presentation shot. I think the arm length however is a bit too short.
