I'm sure that someone here knows what to do but it sounds like you need immediate help and maybe these people can get you there first. My friends at Netwerkin.com http://www.netwerkin.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?

Why do you need Windows 2000 for a LAN?
Never had any problems setting up a game LAN with XP.

xp and 2000 dont like to talk to each other with default settings, there probally is a way to get file sharing to work between them but its not nearly as easy as xp-xp ro 2k-2k(which is just setting up sharing for your drives)

Getting LAN to work is not the issue at the moment getting her computer to boot XP again is.

But thanks for the info.
