Hey guys!
"Wasp" was inspired by an artwork created by Ian Mcque.

Since the concept itself doesn't have an environment or story, I've decided to envision this hovercraft and his owner in a post apocalyptic world.

If anybody is interested in the process, I wrote a tutorial explaining step by step!

Softwares: XSI Softimage, Maya, Vray, Mari and Photoshop.

    I love it! The composition, textures, models and lighting are all spot on! I read through your tutorial and all of the articles that you linked to, they are all amazing! :D

    I am wondering if you have any good articles on lighting? :)

    Absolutely love this!

    Thanks for sharing your process as well, it's always great to see the step-by-step process.

    My only critqiue is about the composition, consider implementing the Rule of Thirds. Right now the image feels very centered on the bike which is a shame since the bike makes you want to hop on and explore the world!

    My immediate thoughts are;
    What is he looking at?
    Where is he going to fly that thing when it's done recharging?!

    I did a quick paint over to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about, and included your image with a Rule of Thirds overlay.

    Thank you so much!
    For lighting I really like to rely on real life resources, so I try to spend a lot of time learning things like photography and painting. A great book for this is one by James Gurney.

    It has everything you need to know about light and color!

    Hope it helps!
