For the obvious reason, that this is a Texturing contest not a modeling contest.

But we can add details through Ndo right??

I have the same thing.What helps for me is when its doing this,hit space for UI then switch to any of the default meshes,then back to custom mesh again.Hope it helps.

in Maya,select your model,try to unlock all normals,then export with normals ticked,as obj if you wish.
See if that helps..

If not,have you got both packages installed...

Instead: in edge mode-->hit LSHIFT/RMB--> delete edge.

Its even as simple as saving your maya file out as Ascii,then opening unity,setup a project,and dragging and dropping your maya file in the viewport of unity...done.
