So, it looks like I might be doing a lot of the scifi type smooth mathematically presice panels in the near future, and I was wondering if I am missing a few tricks in this department.

What is everyone using for this? I have been doing them in subD, but really pushing verts round seems a crap way to do this, and any kind of panelling become a total ballache.

I have played around in Solidworks making the same panels in minutes using curves, but obviously thats not going to go in an engine readily.

So, is there a spline based option out there that can make nice smooth geometry than can be easily converted to SubD after, OR is there a subD program that is significantly better than max for making this find of stuff, including cutting in lines and panel edges.

Modo?

Cheers guys

zbrush or subD are the two most efficient ways to do this.

use solidworks, export and retopo over it?
