I just assumed as long as it's been that dx11 was being rolled in.
I suppose it's a hard beast to implement with reasonable stability.

I was sure looking forward to an alternative to tinker around with.

Believe me. There much bigger problems than DX11 - that only 1% will find any real use of it ;p.

isnt there already another topic about this update?

also, iniside, care to elaborate what bigger problems there are?

Eye adaptation not working properly, which means new HDR do not work properly, which means lighting is screwed.

Also outdated terrain tools (and entire system).

Also problems with network code.

Those come to my mind at first thought. You can also can check crydev.net forum (Feeback section), for current issues.
I must stress out that DX11 is on very bottom, of what should be done :D.

Compared to UDK ? It's stoneage.
First thing coming to my mind is grid density dependent on scale. Lack of alpha brsuhes for sculpting, hard loding (instead of smooth transition), accuracy problems on bigger terrains.

As much flak that they took for releasing the game for so long without dx11.
That they have taken so long without an update only to rlease without DX11 certainly seems to prove that u must be right.

Ignoring cryengine till DX11 ( and serious next gen console considerations ) I just did not realize the engine needed so much work in other areas.
Just wish I knew how much longer I have to ignore cryengine without frustrating mahself needlessly?

With current Crytek's attitude towards community, and how low priority the SDK seems to be I'd go for a year or so.

I'm myself very frustrated cause the 3.3.7 version had some minor bugs like irritating scaling reset issue and constant crashes, but what they did with 3.3.9 is a disaster. They added Scaleform but broke pretty much everything else. And it took them several months to to that and now it's almost a week and not a single patch has been released.

If you're really desperate for a version with DX11 then you can buy Crysis 2.

I think they should focus on stability before adding in DX11. I get so many crashes at the moment, its unbelievable. I get a crash whenever I close the lighting editor, and also when I change size of vegetation. Very annoying!

@PogoP

I see you're now making an environment with CE3, I'd suggest to stay with 3.3.7 because
otherwise you won't be able to make high res screenshots.

Why won't you be able to make high-res screenshots with the new version?

I was going to use this for my environment - but it looks like I might stick with the Crysis 2 SDK...

Oh okay, they are aware of a lot of this stuff.

I'd like to believe the patch is coming soon, but I don't.
It's been almost a week from the release and not a single word about any update.

Well, I don't want to troll I think CE3 is a SUPERB engine, but if you have
any experiences with UDK or Unity and expect the same reliability you'll be
devastated.
It's not that I expect CE3 Free SDK not to have bugs at all or UDK doesn't have them,
but the current release should be called BETA not to confuse people(which UDK ironically is called).
At this stage it's not a production ready software.

Well if you desperately need a patch revert to the previous build until next release, which could be there by the end GDC (just guessin, I don't know about the next CDK release date).
