The metal around the bottom seem to be "fatter" in the original game than your model. Also the base in the original seems to have less open area than yours do

The game Banjo Kazooie (not Banjo and Kazooie) actually uses Comic Sans as their primary font in the game. It's... and interesting choice to say the least.

It's a great start. Apart from what people have said already, I would focus on the yellow design on the (branches?) leafy area. I would bevel it out with a normal map and it looks to have an AO type effect coming from the bevel.

It's a comic book font, but it's not Comic Sans. Not by a long shot.
As for the art: the spheres are the most important forms of the whole, and also the most expensive ones. You should make sure they are efficient with polygons.
1: make sure you have the most efficient type of sphere.

2: give the larger spheres more polygons, and the smaller ones less.
3: Profit!
Here's a comparison of your method and mine:

yours is 2016 triangles, mine is 1964 but still looks a bit smoother.

The game he's referencing is Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, not the original which uses Comicrazy.
