View Full Version : Star Wars Generator

So here is my most recent project, based on this concept (http://www.starwarsmmo.net/cms/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/ca_20081226_republicgenerator_full.jpg). My goal wasn't to match it exactly but to get it kinda close. I am open to any comments or crits, the model is finalized but I can take any crits with me on my next project. Thanks for taking a look.
Look good! In my opinion ventilation shafts must be darker for better look, at the moment it's merge with whole color of construction, I can barely see normal and spec maps here also it will be nice to post wire, so it'll be clear is' it low poly or so

Looks pretty dang good. At first I thought that the paneled texture was a bit strange but looking at the concept and seeing the scale of it it makes more sense. Maybe you should add a little guy in your presentation so the scale is more obvious.

I'd also love to see wires/flats for this. :}
I'd also suggest making the scale figure in your beauty shots white so they stand out more. I think emphasizing the enormous scale of this thing is important. As it is now I completely overlooked your black little guy in there.
You pretty much nailed the concept except for the tiny blue lights, the chipped red paint around the corners, the much darker vents, and the burn marks around the ventilation panels that are in the concept.
But all in all this is a pretty awesome translation of the concept. :thumbup:

I updated the two previous shots with the small updates.
@Rav3 - I made the vents a bit darker, hopefully that breaks up the color a bit.
@Zipfinator - I did have a little guy in there but he was black and wasn't very noticeable :)
@sybrix - Yeah I didn't think about him being black until after the fact. I made him white so he should stand out a bit more. I knew I forgot something, the blaster fire! I may go back and add some to it.
But here are the wires - and I forgot to mention they are all screengrabs with Xoliul's shader.
