View Full Version : My first try with QT Designer - MayaToCubeMapGen MEL Script

So I read in another thread here in Technical Talk about a bundled software with Maya 2012 called QT Designer used for creating gui for Maya. I wanted to give this a go. I needed a script to begin with and decided to make a MEL script which would help and speed up the process of rendering images from Maya to later compose into a Cube Map with ATI's CubeMapGen software.

Using QT Designer for the GUI parts was really useful and I would highly recommend it to anyone who might find it tempting.

The script basically creates 6 cameras with 90 degree fov, renders images from each of them to disk, prepared properly to directly fit ATI CubeMapGen's prefered setup (no flipping images and headaches).

Hmm, this sounds like something to use if we'd ever do a Maya version of XS2...

Can't try your script unfortunately since I don't use Maya :/

QT beats everything regarding gui work, thatīs not restricted to maya.qt is just plain awesome :D
