View Full Version : Wireframe/Smoothing lines in normal map?
Anyone have a solution for removing wireframe lines in normal maps?
I'm baking a model and am getting some odd wireframe/smoothing lines on certain areas. Mirrored UV's are off 0-1 space.
Can't figure out what is causing it. Both with Raytrace and a Cage.

c'mon mang. We need some screens.
Here is a screen of the issue.
It seems like it's projecting the triangulation for some reason.
anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

The problem here is that you have too harsh angles in your mesh. Where those artifacts are shown you will find areas where vertex normals point in lots of conflicting directions. Ease the transsition between vertex normals by adding support geometry.. or just use smoothing groups.

To add to what Perna said, also make sure those parts of the UV aren't overlapping and/or extremely small in size in weird ways, they won't have enough space to read information, so they'll create nasty dashes and twirls.
